Sea Shells centres around a poem about a child who collects shells. The zine explores themes around low eco-impact mussel farming and how we have lived in harmony alongside the sea for centuries. Rebecca, the artist, hopes the zine can remind us to appreciate the unique beauty you can find everywhere, if you look closely enough.

Rebeccca says, "I spent some time exploring the rock pools of Pittenweem in Fife and watching the mussel-fishing boats in the harbour. My poem is about a child collecting shells and discovering the abundance of life swimming around her toes. I wanted to tell a story that celebrates shells in all their forms, from the beach, under the waves and as the livelihood of a seaside town."

Drawing from the landscapes around her, Rebecca’s illustrative stories celebrate humanities harmony with the natural world. Originally from Leeds, Rebecca is now based in Leith and gathers inspiration from drawing trips up and down the East coast of Scotland. Rebecca is a keen printmaker and uses a combination of mono-printed textures, collage and drawings alongside digital tools to create highly detailed risograph prints. Her printmaking often begins with paintings from her sketchbook which she carries with her everywhere.
